The Ocean Bounty semi-submersible drilling rig has started drilling the prospective Casino-1 gas well in the Bass Strait.
Holding a huge 50% for an unlisted company in the well is Strike Oil with Santos operating the VIC/P44 permit. Perilya Mines has a 30% stake in Strike.
Strike estimate the well will take 8 days to get to the target zone.
Estimates for the well range up to a trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas.
