Busy week for Voyager in Perth Basin

Voyager, earning 5%, will join another Perth minnow, Black Rock Petroleum (13%) in a new joint venture being formed to drill the Morangie prospect in WA-226P, offshore Perth Basin. The permit lies about 200 kilometres to the northwest of the Cliff Head oil discovery.

Voyager will earn their 5% equity by part funding the Morangie-1 well, which will test a structure said to have the capacity for up to 250 million barrels of oil in place.

Voyager said the mapped prospects are located in excess of 100 metres of water and therefore cannot be drilled with a jack-up rig like that used at Cliff Head. It said the new operator, Origin Energy, will be looking to contract an appropriate rig to drill the prospect as soon as possible.

Participants in WA-226P following completion of the farm-ins will be Dana Petroleum Plc 52%, Origin Enegy 30%, Black Rock Petroleum 13% and Voyager Energy 5%.
