Edirne gas project exceeds expectations

TURKEY partners Incremental Petroleum and Otto Energy's logging in Kuzey Arpaci-1 well in the Thr...

The gas readings were found between 297m and 505m. The total depth of the well is 540m.

Results from Kuzey Arpaci-1 also exceeded pre-drill estimates of reservoir thickness and further enhance the reserve base of the Edirne gas project, Incremental said.

Production casing is now being run to the total depth.

The Kuzey Arpaci-1 is one of 17 structures mapped on the 2007 3D seismic. It is one kilometre northwest of Arpaci-1, which was drilled in 2006 and encountered gas in several sand intervals that are also being targeted in the current well.

The well is expected to be commercial by mid-2009.

Incremental holds a 55% stake in the Edirne licence, while Otto Energy has 35% and a Turkish company, Petraco, holds the remaining 10%.
