The prospect has a potential reservoir of 7bcf of gas in the objective Karpat Sandstone, if gas is present.

“Carpathian has already given approval for preparatory work to commence on the Ja9a well, which will be located approximately one kilometer from the existing Ja9 well,” said the company.

This well encountered gas indications in over 20m of Karpat sandstone from 886-920m and the new well is expected to encounter these horizons in an up dip position.

Carpathian expects to commence drilling in the second quarter of 2005 and if successful will be able to place the well on production via the Ja3a pipeline at low cost and in minimum time.
