Woodward denied allegations construction work on the BTC is behind schedule.

Speaking to reporters at the Caspian Oil and Gas Conference Woodward said, “The first tanker lifting will take place in the first half of 2005.”

“[I won’t] give a date. It is not because we see that we are not going to be able to achieve the schedule, it is because people get over-excited about dates,” added Woodward.

The construction of the BTC, which is being financed by the BTC Consortium, is more than 50% complete. The BP Plc-led consortium, with BP as the operator, is made up of SOCAR, TPAO, Statoil ASA, Unocal, Itochu, INPEX, Amerada Hess and ENI SpA.
