Vector revamps management structure

VECTOR has announced its new-look senior management team, reflecting its takeover of NGC Holdings earlier this year.

Vector revamps management structure

Company chief executive Mark Franklin told the NZX today of the new Vector executive management structure and said the appointments completed the first stage of the integration of NGC into Vector.

Eight executives would report directly to Franklin, with divisional business lines having been established for the company's three core businesses of electricity, gas and technology, with each led by a divisional CEO.

Franklin said the new executive structure differed from that of either of the previously separate businesses and reflected the significant growth of Vector in recent years.

"The new executive structure takes into account the multi-faceted scope of our business and allows us to use the specialised skills and expertise contained across the group more cost-effectively," he said.

"The new structure will ensure we remain focused on service delivery to our customers, which is fundamental to the future success of our business.

"The new structure incorporates a highly experienced group of executives who will be supported by a strong leadership team. Together they have an extensive collective knowledge of both businesses."

Franklin said Vector would now begin the second stage of the integration process with the appointment of management roles. The third and final stage, involving the appointment of specialist and professional roles, should be completed in early 2006.

The new executive team is:

David Tompkins, Divisional CEO Electricity, responsible for the Vector and UnitedNetworks electricity networks in Auckland and Wellington. He was previously Vector general manager (service delivery).

Bryan Crawford, Divisional CEO Gas, responsible for the NGC gas processing, transmission and distribution businesses as well as the Vector Auckland gas business, the On gas LPG business and natural gas trading business. He was previously NGC CEO.

Simon Mackenzie, Divisional CEO Technology, responsible for the NGC Metering business, Stream Limited metering joint venture, as well as Vector communications. He was previously Vector general manager (networks).

Peter Fredricson, Chief Financial Officer. He was Vector CFO.

Andy Knight, Group General Manager (Strategy). He joined Vector earlier in the year from AGL to take up this role.

Steve Bielby, Group General Counsel. He was NGC general counsel and, in addition to the legal, company secretarial and group governance responsibilities, will assume the company's regulatory relationship accountability.

Peter Brown, Group General Manager (Organisation Services). He was Vector corporate general manager and will now provide human resources, health safety and employment (HS&E), property and procurement services for Vector, as well as leading the company's Utilitech training business.

Hanno Schupp, Chief Information Officer. He will be joining the company in November from Deloitte Consulting in Australia where he is currently Principle of Enterprise Applications and CIO Services Team.
