"There certainly was not [any government influence]," Mr Macpherson said.
WA Opposition leader Colin Barnet has called on Western Power's board to give a full explanation of the circumstances behind the decision to terminate Mr Eiszele's contract six months before it was due to expire.
"I can tell you absolutely and categorically that he [Mr Eiszele] did not leave of his own initiation," said Mr Barnett who spoke with Mr Eiszele last Friday.
"He was pushed out of the job because he disagreed with the way the government was approaching deregulation."
