Proponents National Power and investment bank Babcock & Brown said this would enable the first stage of the South Australian wind project to go ahead.

It is planned that 40,000 homes would be powered by 46 wind turbines, generating 80 megawatts, with a later expansion to 200 MW.

In related news, Danish wind turbine maker Vestas won a 65 million euro order to supply the 46 turbines, each with a capacity of 1.75 megawatts.
