Tangguh LNG to fire new Fujian power plant

Once completed, the CCGT will have the capacity to generate 1,400 MW of electricity. PO&G president Arthur Ling believes that the power plant will be able to supply much-needed power for Xiamen and for Fujian province, which has suffered from periodical power shortages.

The company is also planning to develop other power plants in China and will make use of LNG from the five million tonnes per year Tangguh LNG plant. Other provinces in China have also made arrangements to source their LNG supply from the BP operated project..

Phase one of the project will start with an initial capacity of 2 X 350 MW and an investment of around US$350 million.
