The Switzerland-based offshore driller's recent fleet update summary revealed that Jack Bates was awarded a two-well contract in Australia at a day rate of $US420,000 ($A450,830), with the work to contribute $59 million to Transocean's backlog.
Upstream Online reported that the work was part of an Inpex-led three-well campaign.
"Inpex is currently planning to drill wells in blocks WA-341-P and WA-343-P, where it is partnered by French company Total and on block AC/P36 on behalf of coÂventurer Murphy Oil," it reported.
"The drilling program will be aimed at assessing the economic potential of gas and condensate reserves contained within a Jurassic reservoir."
Drilling is estimated to take place between February 2015 and July 2016.
Inpex has a 20% stake of the WA-274-P block, which hosts the recently announced Lasseter-1 gas and condensate find near the Ichthys gas-condensate field.
