Samson spuds Texas well

SAMSON Oil and Gas has started drilling the Sabretooth-1 well in Brazoria County, onshore the Gulf Coast Basin, Texas.

Spudded on June 21, Samson said the well was drilling ahead at about 1400 feet yesterday.

The well has a target depth of 14,000ft and will test the Vicksburg Formation.

According to the company, Sabretooth-1 has an estimated contingent recoverable volume of 25 billion cubic feet equivalent and is analogous to Aspect Energy's 10 billion cubic feet Griffith-1 discovery.

Samson has a 12.5% working interest in the well.
