Drilling began yesterday on the Orallo North-2 well, a follow-up to the discovery well, which intersected 19m of coal 500m away.
Bow, which joins Victoria Petroleum and Roma CBM in the JV, said Orallo North-2 was a cored well, designed to retrieve coal cores for desorption testing to determine the gas content of the Walloon coal seams.
It is the first of six planned core wells to be drilled to establish gas contents for reserves certification.
In addition, several production wells will be drilled to provide additional information on coal thickness and permeability.
Reserves certification will be undertaken by MHA Petroleum Consultants, which has an initial target of 200 petajoules of 2P (proved plus probable) reserves by the end of the year.
