Impress told the market on Friday that the first well to spud would be Lancer-1 in PEL 115, followed by Ascender-1 in PEL 111.
Defined by the Mirage 3D data set, the Lancer prospect is a four-way dip anticline with multiple reservoir objectives and is south of the Mirage oil field’s production facilities.
Meanwhile, the Ascender prospect is also a large low-relief four-way dip closed structure about 16km northwest of Santos’ Charo oil discovery and about 20km north of the recent Growler and Wirraway oil finds.
The prospect is in the northern region of the Western Margin Oil Fairway.
Both wells are primarily targeting oil in the Birkhead and Hutton formations, with Ascender-1 having secondary potential in the Murta, McKinlay and Patchawarra, and Lancer-1 with secondary targets in the Poolawanna.
VicPet is operator and holds 40% in the PEL 111 and PEL 115 permits, while Impress holds 40% and Roma has 30%.
