Queensland Gas Company and Arrow Energy each have two producing CSM fields on the Undulla Nose, being the Berwyndale South, Argyle, Kogan North and Tipton West projects.
The first well is targeting the Dingonose prospect, while the second well is being drilled on the Duckworth prospect, both of which were potentially productive from the Rangal/Bandanna Formation.
“The Dingonose and Duckworth prospects in ATP806P are located along mapped ‘nose’ structures, where fracture density and the likelihood of an open cleat system are believed to be greatest, and which is considered most favourable for CSM production,” the company said.
Based on analogous CSM areas, Pure expects to encounter 10-30 metres of gross coal thickness, while gas contents observed at nearby Blackdown CSM wells were also encouraging, it said.
The two wells represent the first step in an 11-well exploration program to assess eight CSM prospects.
This drilling activity will take place over the next five months, with seven wells to be drilled by Pure, and the remaining four wells by its farm-in partner, Arrow Energy, in the ATP831P and ATP759P permits.
