Habanero-3 to spud soon: Geodynamics

The hot rocks explorer said the state-of-the-art rig had been successfully delivered to the well site near Innamincka, where it had raised the derrick and platform for the first time in the country.

Geodynamics has finished assembling all major items and said it was progressing the commissioning process.

The $32 million unit is the most powerful onshore rig in Australia, capable of drilling to depths of around 6000m.

Habanero-3 will be the company’s first commercial scale production well, expected to lead to the first formal proving of geothermal reserves by year-end.
