The well is targeting 2.5 million barrels of in-place oil and 32 billion cubic feet of in-place gas, both at the P10 level of confidence, in the Doriemus structure, which has a strong stratigraphic component.
Doriemus-1 is about 100m north of the Packsaddle-2 well, drilled by the Delhi-Santos joint venture in 1978, which found “interesting” oil shows in the Birkhead Formation, Hutton Sandstone and Merrimelia Formation, as well as good gas shows in the Toolachee and Patchwarra Formations.
“Two out of the three oil zones were tested without recovering significant quantities of oil,” Stuart’s managing director Tino Guglielmo said.
“The original testing program left several potential reservoirs requiring further evaluation.”
Doriemus-1 is 2.1km east of the Santos-operated Packsaddle-Pondrinie gas field on an east-west faulted structural nose, on the eastern flank of the Packsaddle Ridge.
