Drillsearch today said oil shows were encountered during drilling on September 22 when rig PDI-735 spudded Mulberry-21, while wireline logs indicated 7m of net pay in the mid Birkhead reservoir unit.

The company said three lengths of core, recovered from the coring operation over the reservoir unit, would be used to further evaluate reservoir properties.

The rig will now be released to the Mulberry-22 well location.

Drillsearch also said Mulberry-22 spudded on October 2 and current operations are drilling ahead in a 7 7/8-inch hole.

Meanwhile, rig PDI-724 spudded oil delineation well Endeavour-19, also drilling in a 7 7/8-inch hole, on October 1.

Operator Santos has an 89% interest in Tintaburra, while Drillsearch holds 10% and CPC Energy the remaining stake.
