This morning, the well had reached a depth of 536m in a 12¼-inch hole.
Jingemia-8, which is 23km south of the Dongara township and 90m south of Jingemia-6, is primarily targeting the late Permian Dongara Sandstone, the main oil-producing reservoir in the Jingemia, Hovea and Eremia oil fields.
With a planned total depth of 2560m, Jingemia-8 is designed to intersect the Dongara Sandstone as near as possible to the structural crest of the Jingemia oil field, and up-dip from existing Jingemia wells.
The well is being drilled directionally and is expected to intersect the top of the Dongara Sandstone around 2438m in measured depth, or 517m north-northeast of the surface location.
