Offshore Perth Basin wildcat spuds

The well is located in about 45m of water 15km north of the Abrolhos Islands and is being drilled by the Ensco-56 jack up rig.

The estimated was made by junior partner Voyager Energy, which said the target had been defined by 3D seismic and is one of a very large inventory of undrilled structures with similar geological characteristics in the area.

The well is programmed to drill to a total depth of 1,830 metres with the reservoir target beneath the regional seal (Kockatea Shale) predicted at approximately 1,636 metres. The target level should be reached during next week.

Following Hadda-1, the partners expect the next drilling in the region to be carried out in October with the arrival of the Ensco 67 jack up rig to drill the production wells for the Cliff Head oil field.

Participants in WA-325-P are Roc Oil (WA) Pty Ltd (operator) 37.5%, Apache Northwest Pty Ltd 37.5%, VOYAGER (PB) LIMITED 12.5%, Bounty Oil & Gas NL 7.5%, Wandoo Petroleum Pty Ltd 5.0%.
