Take two for Corowa East-1

DOWNHOLE mechanical difficulties have led the partners in the Corowa East-1 well to abandon the hole, skidding the Ocean Epoch drilling rig 23 metres south to respud the well.

A drilling report yesterday said the well was at 796 metres and drilling ahead to a target depth of 1665 metres which was estimated to be reached on the 10th February.

The well is targeting an estimated mean recoverable reserve of 7.4 million barrels of oil and a high-side potential of 17.5 million barrels, according to operator Santos. It is targeting a 1971 discovery.

It is in EP WA-264P, 1.2km to the east of the Corowa-1 well and about 40km west of the Thevenard Island production facility.

Interests are Santos Offshore Pty Ltd 50% (operator), Kufpec Australia Pty Ltd 33.33%, Beach Petroleum Ltd 16.67%.
