Boojum breaks ground

STRIKE Oil’s second offshore well as a listed company spudded yesterday morning, and is expected to take a week to get into the target zone.

Boojum breaks ground

Boojum-1, with Tap Oil operating the well, is in TP/18, 16km north-west of Airlie Island, in the Carnarvon Basin and 50km south-west of Barrow Island.

“The well is targeting Lower Barrow Group Sandstones on an interpreted fault block structure defined on 3D seismic. The recoverable oil potential in the Boojum Prospect is calculated around 11 million barrels,” said a Strike Oil announcement.

It is being drilled by the Ensco 56 rig to a planned depth of 2,650 metres.

Last week Strike (90%) drilled the Altostratus well which was plugged and abandoned as non-commercial after finding the target reservoir water saturated.
