Bohena South-1 spuds

Eastern Star Gas has spudded the Bohena South-1 coal bed methane (CBM) appraisal/development well, the fourth well in the ongoing Gunnedah CBM Project drilling program.

Bohena South-1 will target coal measures within the Early Permian Maules Creek Formation at a depth of approximately 870m, which will eventually be hydraulically fracture stimulated and the well placed in test production.

The Gunnedah Project is located in Petroleum Exploration Licence 238 between Narrabri and Gunnedah in New South Wales covering 9,100sq.km of the Gunnedah Basin, which contains one of the largest onshore natural gas accumulations in Australia with 17,000 PJ (17 TCF) of gas-in-place.

The project is managed by Eastern Star Gas which holds a 15% interest but acquiring up to 32.5% with Hillgrove Resources holding 15% but acquiring up to 32.5% and Gastar Exploration maintaining a 70% interest reducing to 35%.
