Hovea campaign marches on

Perth Basin specialist ARC Energy has spudded the field development well Hovea-11 in the onshore Production Licence L1, as a deviated well from the Hovea Production Facility (HPF) to a subsurface location some 870m south south-east of the HPF.

Hovea campaign marches on

The bottom hole location is roughly midway between the Hovea-7 and Hovea-9 bottom hole locations and the aim of the well is to better define the extent of the field and provide an additional drainage point which will accelerate production and may add to the field reserves.

Additionally a production tubing string and completion assembly was run in the Centella-1 well before the rig was then moved to the Hovea-11 location. The forward program is for the completion test equipment to be rigged up and the Dongara Sandstone interval to be perforated and a cleanup flow undertaken.

Depending on the results of the initial flow a more extended flow period may be undertaken which may include a well stimulation. The further flow test will be to determine flow characteristics, hydrocarbon composition and initial reservoir information.

Commencement of the initial flow test has been delayed by the priorities of field staff on the Xyris gas field development and the installation of the gas lift compressor at the HPF, and the intention is to now undertake the Centella test over the next few weeks.

Participants in Hovea-11 and Centella-1 and L1 and L2 (excluding the Dongara, Mondarra and Yardarino fields) are ARC Energy 50% and Origin Energy Developments 50%.
