Located 1.3km south of the surface location of Bohena-4L the targeted Maules Creek coal measures contained a 12m net thick Bohena Seam, and an additional 4.2m net coal in the upper part of the formation, all over a total 70m interval.
The secondary target, Late Permian Black Jack Formation., contained a 5.4m net Hoskisson coal seam and an additional 7.4m coal in the upper part of the formation, all over a total 116m interval.
ESG has cased and suspended the well for fracture stimulation, which will occur as a part of a multi-well campaign within the next two weeks. Other wells to be fracture stimulated in this campaign are Bohena South-1 and the previously drilled Bibblewindi-1.
The drilling rig is currently being moved to the Bohena South-1 location and will commence drilling later in the week.
Bohena-9 forms an integral part of the Gunnedah Coal Seam Gas Project reserves certification process within the 260sq.km Bohena Project Area. The Bohena Project Area contains up to 3,700 PJ (3.7 tcf) gas in place within both the Late Permian Black Jack Formation and the Early Permian Maules Creek Formation coal seams.
The aim of this drilling program is to complete a production pilot and offset wells so as to establish sufficient proved and probable gas reserves to support long term sales contracts.
