Examples of the success include the Derrilyn-1 well, which straddles both PEL 113 and PEL 114, has flowed at 1,728 barrels per day (bpd) and has been suspended as a future oil producer. The longer term plan for the well is to deliver the produced oil to a nearby oil pipeline connecting to the central Moomba facility.
Reg Sprigg West-1 has also been cased and suspended as an oil producer while tests continue on a potential sizeable gas resource intersected over several zones. Additionally the success at Reg Sprigg West has upgraded the potential of structures immediately to the west in the Candra Block of PEL90.
Harpoono-1, 5km to the south of Derrilyn-1, flowed at 140bpd and will be completed as an oil producer, although reserves are expected to be less than pre-drill expectations after oil was discovered in only one zone rather than two.
Tempering the recent success has been the fall in production levels from the region due to a period of poor weather. Rain at the company’s fields has forced Stuart to drop production by around 15,000 barrels of oil as tankers have been unable to use the roads for extended periods.
