OIL makes major Assam gas discovery

India's state-run Oil India Ltd (OIL) has announced a major gas discovery in the Chandmari structure in the state of Assam. The discovery is said to have estimated gas reserves of around one trillion cubic feet.

OIL is said to want to fast-track this discovery and is undertaking a number of strategic initiatives to get things up and running, including laying a gas pipeline from OIL's Numaligarh Refinery.
