Within this gross 37m column, the electric logs indicate at least 6m of net gas sand, which is similar to, and confirms, the result in the earlier Waggamba-1 well.
Waggamba-2 is being drilled in the Dalkeith Block in southeast Queensland approximately 400m from the original Waggamba-1 well. A Production Licence application (APL 202) has been lodged.
The Waggamba-2 well is currently at 2583m and a coiled tubing drilling unit will be mobilised (weather permitting) to drill the primary target in early February to drill the primary target with nitrogen unlike the Waggamba-1 well where drilling muds may have damaged the reservoir.
"While this Rewan gas interval is currently behind pipe, our experience at Tinker is that the Rewan Formation is a significant gas resource, which will add to our total reserves and could be produced in its own right. In the meantime we are concentrating on the primary target - the Tinowon Sandstone," said Mosaic CEO, Dr Howard Brady.
