Cullin 1 was fully funded and operated by Joint Venture partner Samson as part of the farm-in to earn a 60% working interest and represented the first northern area coal bed methane exploration well to be drilled by the companies.

The project targeted a known series of coal seams, including one of over 8m in thickness, which was being evaluated for its extent and coal bed methane potential.

Cullin-1 indicates that this coal sequence does not extend this distance to the south south-east and has given the partners a better understanding of the coal reservoir, said the partners.
