Auckland-based Greymouth is also refusing to elaborate on reported safety concerns and offspec gas at the Ngatoro production facilities, which New Zealand Oil and Gas subsidiary NZOG Services Ltd operates.
Goldie-2 spudded last week from the same surface location as the 2001 Goldie-1 well, but targeting shallow Miocene-aged Mt Messenger sandstones within a different part of the Goldie reservoir it is believed.
It is known Goldie-1 is now tied-in to the nearby Kaimiro production station, which Greymouth owns and operates, essentially via an extension and a disused Ngatoro pipeline.
It is also understood some offspec gas from Ngatoro has recently been piped to Kaimiro and that Greymouth has some safety concerns about some aspects of the Ngatoro operation.
However, Greymouth spokesperson Charlotte Pendergrast said the company did not make statements about its operations or activities, other than general information published from time to time on its website. "We regret we are unable to assist you further on this occasion," she told EnergyReview.Net.
