Drilling on Berwyndale South-9 is currently suspended while drill stem tests are conducted over the Macalister coal seams to measure the permeability of the seam. The well will have a proposed total depth of 546 m, intersecting all seams of the Juandah coal sequence.
Berwyndale South-13 will be drilled next week, with a proposed depth of 750 m intersecting both the Juandah and Taroom coal sequences. The well is located approximately 4 km west of the pilot to confirm the continuity of coal, permeability and gas in the proposed development area.
Both wells will be completed using pre-perforated casing and will be completed for immediate testing of production in the Iona/Argyle coal seams, with the Macalister seams isolated to enable testing at a later time.
In each case, drill stem tests will be performed to assess the permeability of selected seams. The costs of the new wells are carried by CS Energy under the terms of the farmin agreement between QGC and CS Energy. Each party holds a 50% interest in the Berwyndale South project.
