The last well report said work was under to free the stuck drill pipe.
Overston-2 is being drilled using the nitrogen drilling method which, designed to protect the reservoir from damage which could restrict flow.
Sunshine company secretary Chris Blamey said the drillers were filling the hole with mud to assist the process of freeing the stuck drill-pipe. Once free, they planned to drill ahead to Total Depth with mud before evaluating the well further.
Sunshine had earlier encountered gas flow rate too small to measure during the first flow test over the Tinowon section.
The Wallabella Coal Member section produced gas which rose to the surface with a 20 metre-long flare. Flow Test 2 on both sections recorded gas flowing to the surface at a maximum rate of 1.5 million cubic feet per day through a ½” surface choke.
The drill-pipe got stuck once air drilling had recommenced following Flow Test 2, when a zone was intersected which flowed gas to the surface. Unfortunately, the drill-pipe became stuck prior to gas flow rates being established.
Overston-2 in Block ATP 645P is a 50-50 JV between Sunshine and Samson International (Australia) Pty Ltd as operator.
