DRILLING

One rig, two wells for Lakes

During the week Lakes Oil re-entered the Wombat-2 well in Victoria’s onshore Gippsland Basin with open perforations between 1,375 – 1,395m being squeezed off using cement and pressure testing to check the integrity of the work successfully completed.

Production tubing is currently being put in place to allow new perforations to be made in the zone 1,474 - 1,491m in preparation for perforation which is expected late today. The well will then be allowed to flow for several days, before being shut in for pressure build up prior to testing.

During this period the rig will be released to begin drilling Trifon-2 from the current depth of 1,200m to an expected depth of 2,500m after several delays due to mechanical failure during the week.

While Trifon-2 is being drilled, Lakes will begin to mobilise fracturing equipment and supplies required to carry out the planned fracturing program on the Wombat-2 and Trifon wells.

The zone currently being prepared for perforation in Wombat-2 flowed 470,000 cubic feet per day on open hole testing at the time of drilling.
