Sun shines on Sunnybank-6 flow

The companies conducted drill-stem test number 1 in the Rewan Formation over the interval 1,780 to 1,808m, which flowed oil to surface at the rate of 650 barrels per day along with gas at the rate of 340 thousand cubic feet per day.

Drilling will be continued to the proposed total depth of 2,211m in order to evaluate deeper target zones of interest before further evaluation.

The well is designed to appraise bypassed oil and gas pay in up to four Triassic reservoirs and two Permian reservoirs in a location a few hundred metres to the east of the Sunnybank-1 discovery well.

Sunnybank-1 (drilled in the early 1960's) flowed 600 barrels of oil per day from the Triassic section, along with 300mcfd of gas however, rates declined during cased hole production testing and the well was abandoned.

Sunnybank-6 is situated to the southeast of Roma in Queensland and is operated by Santos with Sunshine Gas holding a 15% working interest.
