As announced two weeks ago, emerging coalbed methane player Eastern Star Gas has kicked off drilling the first of five wells in the "Oak Park" brown coalbed methane pilot production project.
Eastern Star said the first well has been drilled to a total depth of 108 metres. "Casing has been set at the top of the coal seam, and the well has been under-reamed to increase the hole size over a 13m coal interval," Eastern Star said. "The well will be completed with the installation of an electric submersible pump in January."
