Woodside Petroleum, operator of the WA-279-P Joint Venture, said that the Weasel-1 exploration well was plugged and abandoned after being drilled to a total depth of 1,776m.

Last week, Shakespeare-1 was plugged and abandoned after wireline logs indicated a dry hole.

A Woodside spokesperson the wildcat wells were drilled in order to comply with the permit obligations.
