Woodside said it is currently acquiring wire-line logs and that preliminary interpretation of the data indicates a gross gas column of 25 metres has been intersected.
The well, located about 75km north west of the North Rankin A platform in WA-269P, has been drilled to total depth and the company says mapping indicates it to be independent of other gas accumulations in the region.
The well was spudded on the 17th of April and was drilled with an 8-1/2 inch hole after setting a 9-5/8 inch casing.
Partners are Woodside (80%) and Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) (20%).
