The shows were in a siltstone found at 840 metres and InterOil said biostratigraphic data indicated this zone was mature for oil generation.
It said this may be the source for previously announced oil shows in the fractured limestone.
InterOil said previously it had discovered 14 oil shows from 135 metres of gross pay.
Equipment to flow test the shows is being mobilised to site while a potential resource estimate is being prepared by third party experts, said the statement.
