Woodside Petroleum, operator of the WA-279-P Joint Venture, reported that the Weasel-1 exploration well was spudded on the Sunday and currently the operation is running the blowout preventer.

The Sedco 703 drill rig is drilling the well in water depths of approximately 38m at location is 38.4 metres. Planned total depth is 1,776m.

Woodside's interest in WA-279-P is 70% with AGIP BV holding 30%.
