Empire Oil (59%) and CalEnergy (41%) have been trying to farm out the Eclipse prospect for the last 18 months with little success and this is their second time extension.

The prospect is a large 557 bcf gas target but industry has been concerned about a lack of seismic coverage, and therefore seal integrity, over a strategic part of the structure.
