DRILLING

Second US success for Amadeus

The second discovery from its second well has boosted Amadeus Energy's hopes for its US drilling ...

The Rash Barrett 42-1 well, in which Amadeus has a 55% working interest, recovered 150 feet of free oil, 370 feet of heavy oil and gas-cut mud plus 60 feet of salt water from the drillstring after a 1.5 hour flow.

Rash Barrett 24-1 follows on the heels of the successful recovery of oil from the Seay Heirs-1 well at the beginning of the month.

"Two out of two is a wonderful way to start," said managing director, Geoffrey Towner. "It confirms our initial evaluation of up to 20 million barrels at the low end and 50 million at the high end. We are certainly forging ahead and await more detailed information regarding the likely reserves."

The Red Creek project is situated on an extension of a proven producing area and is in close proximity to other Amadeus production across the border in Texas. A total of 45 structures have been identified on the Red Creek prospect, each containing 3 potential drill locations.
