Novus' Pakistani well disappoints, holds breath over Texas well

Sydney-based Novus Petroleum told the exchange this week that open-hole testing of the deeper Chiltan reservoir at its Zarghun North-1 well in Pakistan showed the reservoir to be water-bearing rather than gas. Novus now plans to test the shallower, Dunghan reservoir interval in the well.

While the results from its Pakistani well was disappointing, Novus is holding its breath over its Dunn-Murdock -1 well in Texas, which is targeting two reservoir levels - a shallower secondary target (Tomato) and the main deeper, primary target (Murdock Deep).

Novus told the market that electric logs suggest gas-bearing sandstones over a number of intervals extending over several hundred feet in the well, however it was still premature to determine whether this would flow at a commercial rate.

Novus said it plans to complete the well at its current depth and carry out production testing, after which the well would probably be tied into the local gas pipeline infrastructure.
