DRILLING

Drillsearch hits pay dirt in Canada

A Canadian unit of Drillsearch Energy has added a modest increase in production to the company with a recent oil discovery in central Alberta flowing 140 barrels a day.

Well logs for 02/11-32 65-25W4 indicate 3.1 metres of oil pay in the Leduc Formation.

Circumpacific, which holds a 19% interest in the well, said the well should commence production in one week. The company said the Morinville well was sited using the 3D seismic survey completed earlier in 2001 and a further development well is under consideration. The group is planning additional drilling within the next two months at Talbot Lake and possibly a development/step out gas well at Lambert, west central Alberta, to be determined around mid-December.
