Don Juan not so smooth

CITING ‘safety reasons', Bow Energy is seeking a new drilling operator at its Don Juan coal seam methane project, the company said in a report released to the Australian Stock Exchange today.

Managing director Ron Prefontaine declined to comment further on the issue to PNN. But it is known that the drilling operator was JD Drilling.

The Orallo South-1 core well reached a depth of 414.5m - 120m short of target depth - before operations were suspended.

"It is planned to deepen the well to target depth of around 535 metres after arrangements for a new coring rig have been finalised," Bow said in its ASX release.

"Production drilling is intended to resume once a new drilling contractor is sourced and likely after the initial pump tests are completed.

"Planning and equipment procurement for the initial pump test of Taringa South-1, Orallo North-1, and Carnarvon-1 is in progress along with investigations of long-term water treatment solutions."
