Company secretary Chris Blamey said the well was designed to test the extent, quality and gas content of the Jurassic-aged Walloon coal seams, which had proved to be gas productive in the adjacent ATP 336P area.
Sunshine Gas’ three-well coring program, starting with Lacerta-2, will begin the process of moving part of the 230 billion cubic feet of contingent resources into a reserves category by establishing the Walloon CSM play across ATP 795P.
“If successful, the corehole program will provide a location for a three-to-five well pilot program, to measure the flow capacity of the coal sequence,” Blamey said.
