Results from the recently completed Tilbrook wells 2, 3, 4 and 5 in ATP 688P are "encouraging", the ASX-listed company said yesterday.
The wells intersected three coal seams as part of a 12-well drilling program at the site in the northern Bowen Basin.
Gas content for the Lower Goonyella’s “A” and “B” seams ranged from 5-15 cubic metres per tonne (m3/t), up to a high of 28 m3/t in Tilbrook-5.
Tilbrook-4 intersected a 10 metre-thick “P” seam at about 300 metres and gas content ranged from 6.5-8m3/t, Sunshine said.
Permeability in the Tilbrook-4 “P” seam was good, with evidence of vertical fracturing of the coals on the image logs.
Further isotherm work would be done on the three seams to get a better understanding of their gas saturation levels, Sunshine said.
Sunshine said it was evaluating options for developing the field.
Tilbrook is near an existing 390-kilometre pipeline currently delivering gas to the Townsville Power Station from BHP Billiton's and CH4's Moranbah gas project in central Queensland.
