All wells at the PEL 238, Gunnedah Basin joint venture, are performing as normal, unconfined, CBM wells during the early stages of de-watering, the company said today.
Aggregate production from the five producing wells is 298,000 cubic feet a day.
Water and CBM production rates support the presence of a significant commercial accumulation of coalbed methane in the Bohena project area, the company claimed.
The joint venture now has five wells in continuous test production that continue to show increases in gas production in line with the reservoir simulation model and the development plan, it said.
A sixth well - Bohena-4L, a horizontal completion - is off-line for remedial work.
Gas produced during the test production period will be supplied to the Wilga Park power station for electricity generation, Eastern Star said.
The goal of the test production is to demonstrate commercial gas flow rates for each well and achieve an early upgrade of the existing possible reserves into proven and probable reserves.
The proven and probable reserves certification will enable gas sales contracts to be completed.
The joint venture partners will meet next month to finalise the remainder of this year’s work program.
The Gunnedah Basin Gas Project joint venture comrpises Eastern Star Gas 25% (increasing up to 32.5%), Hillgrove Resources Limited 25% (increasing up to 32.5%) and Gastar Exploration Limited 50% (decreasing to 35%).
