Sydney Gas completes 20-well program

SYDNEY Gas has successfuly completed its 20-well coalbed methane production drilling program on Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute land, near Camden in Sydney’s inner west, the company announced yesterday.

Since May, four of the wells have reached total depths between 690 metres and 802m on land inside the company’s high production fairway within stage two of the Camden Gas Project, chief executive officer Dr Bruce Butcher said.

The wells are less than three kilometres from the Rosalind Park Gas Plant at Campbelltown that has been supplying to AGL Wholesale Gas Ltd since last December.

Sixteen production wells on the institute’s land, and another 31 stage two production wells, are delivering gas to the plant for sale to AGL, Butcher said.

Of the remaining six production wells at the institute, four have been fracced and are undergoing completion and dewatering. The other two are undergoing preparation for fracture stimulation.

When completed and dewatered, the six wells will be put on a production flow test program before being tied into the gas gathering system.
