Molopo will have a 50% interest in the gas produced from these new wells, which will be sold to Origin Energy under existing gas sales agreements with Molopo.
With the addition of these wells, Molopo now has 13 producing wells connected to the Mungi gathering system.
Together with Mungi-14, which came on line last week, the Mungi-16 and Mungi-17 wells have been hydraulically fracture-stimulated. The next series of production wells at Mungi are expected to be horizontal wells, building on the success of the Mungi 2 horizontal well.
The first of these new horizontal wells is expected to spud next quarter.
In addition to the three new Mungi production wells, the Mungi Joint Venture expects to place on test two new production test wells at the Bindaree Prospect within two weeks.
The Bindaree Prospect lies to the immediate north of the Mungi Field. These wells may also be tied-in to the Mungi gas gathering system should results warrant and Queensland Government approval be granted.
The Mungi coalbed methane gas field is located in PL94 in the Bowen Basin, and is the closest CBM Production Licence to the Gladstone industrial market. Bindaree/Harcourt is located in PLA 210 (formerly ATP564P).
