QGC said two wells are showing the potential to produce a million cubic feet per day (cf/d) from a single well.

Berwyndale South-9 has flowed gas at a weekly rate of 890,000 cf/d while Berwyndale South-14 has flowed gas rates up to 500,000 cf/d after less than two weeks testing, according to QGC managing director Richard Cottee.

"When viewed together, the results from these two wells demonstrate that the successful completion technique used in the Argyle East Pilot can be replicated at Berwyndale South," Cottee said.

"The performances of Berwyndale South-9 and 14 are consistent with the earlier performances of the Argyle East wells located on the eastern flank of the geological feature known as the Undulla Nose and confirm that Berwyndale South lies within the western boundary of the formation."

QGC has 100% ownership of Berwyndale South and has sales agreements with CS Energy from 2006 and Incitec Pivot from 2007.
