Planet Gas wholly-owned subsidiary, Pauper’s Dream Company, conducted the stratigraphic drilling program aiming to confirm previous total coal seam thickness mapping and assess the in-situ gas of each coal horizon before beginning development drilling programs.
“Preliminary evaluation of the electric logs and gas detection runs indicate gassy coal intersections within horizons of the Fort Union and Wasatch Formations which are the primary coal-bed methane targets,” ASX-listed Planet Gas said in a statement.
The results reveal gassy coal intersections of up to 50 metres and an average of 35.4 metres. They indicate that the Big George coal horizon can be extended 16km to the north-west with a total thickness similar to the western portions of the company's East Esponda Project which has already been developed for production.
Core desorption testwork, to determine the coals' gas content, and well completions will be begun in the near future, Planet Gas said. The company has started permit procedures for the first 50 wells for commercial production from the West Esponda Project.
